Hartford, Conn. - The Colby College Women's Basketball team headed down to Connecticut Sunday afternoon to play Trinity College in their fifth NESCAC game of the season. Despite a close game, the Mules fell to Trinity with a final score of 61-50 which brings their season record to 9-9 and 1-4 in the conference. The Bantams improve their record to 12-5 on the season and 3-1 in the NESCAC.
The first quarter was a shockingly close one, tied with a score of 11-11. Trinity, however, orchestrated a strong comeback during the second quarter, heading into halftime 32-25 scoreline. The latter two quarters of the game witnessed intense competition, and in total, this game saw three score ties and five lead changes. Despite some impressive plays, Trinity managed to cling on to their initial advantage, leading Colby to find themselves in a double-digit deficit.Â
Kate Olenik and
Lydia Mordarski both excelled on the court. Olenik secured 10 points and three rebounds while Mordarski added 11 points, including three rebounds, two steals, and one block.
Caroline Smith and
Adaobi Nebuwa also showcased remarkable talent with Smith obtaining nine points and five rebounds and Nebuwa with seven points and four rebounds.Â
Colby will go on to play another Connecticut NESCACÂ competitor in Conn. College on Sunday, January 28th.
