Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Women's Basketball team successfully secured a win today against Connecticut College, breaking their losing streak with a final score of 66-57. This game bumps up the Mules' season record to ten wins and nine losses with a NESCAC record of 2-4. The Camels now stand with a season record of 5-14 and a conference record of 0-6.
Colby established an incredibly strong lead early on, ending the first quarter with a score of 15-10. The second quarter was slightly less point-intensive, but the Mules were still able to build on their lead and enter halftime with a score of 23-15. Colby continued to dominate the court, absolutely blowing Connecticut College away in the third quarter, gaining an additional 11-point lead. The Camels had a strong comeback in the final quarter, netting a total of 28 points, but it still wasn't enough to repeal the Mules' significant advantage. Colby inevitable took the dub, ending up with a final score of 66-57. Because of the Mules' outstanding performance they maintained a consistent lead throughout the entire game.
Lydia Mordarski's performance on the court was nothing less than stellar, securing a total of 15 points with three steals and four rebounds.
Kate Olenik and
Ana Von Rumohr also delivered a standout performance with Olenik netting a total of 11 points and four rebounds while Von Rumohr locked in ten points, also carrying out four rebounds. Additionally,
Bray Hunter played at a top-notch level and had a total of nine points and one steal.
Amelia Hanscom exhibited a very offensive approach, contributing 14 rebounds and two steals to her team's win.
The Mules will soon head south to play against Tufts University in Medford, Mass. on Friday, February 2nd.
