Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Men's Ice Hockey team opened the new year with a new high tally for the campaign, defeating the Saint Anselm Hawks 7-2. The Mules improve to 3-3-2 on the season.
The hosts opened the scoring just over one minute into play when
Dan Juzych beat the Saint Anselm goalie for the first of the new year for the Mules.
Michael McEachern scored his first of the season early in the second period, but the visitors got one back only moments later to make the score 2-1. Two more Colby goals in the period (
James Tepper,
John McElaney) sent Colby into the final frame with a 4-1 lead.
Tepper and McElaney each scored their second of the game in the third period, and Colby's leading scorer
Henry Molson added his lone goal of the day to go with two assists.
Andy Beran totaled 28 saves in net, including turning away 15 shots in the second period.
The Mules are back in action Friday night when they head to Hamilton for NESCAC battle.
