Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team hosted the Williams College Ephs in a NESCAC matchup on Friday night. The Mules defeated the Ephs 4-2 to improve their NESCAC record to 3-3-1 and their overall record to 10-3-1.
The Mules came out strong in the first period with goals by
Megan Martodam and
Meg Rittenhouse in the first few minutes. They maintained momentum as Rittenhouse added a second goal later in the period, making it 3-0 going into the first intermission. Colby faced much harder pressure from Williams in the second period.
Grace Caligiuri made 16 saves and allowed one goal against.
Beth Sinson answered with a power play goal to tie the period. In the third period the Mules held strong, allowing one 6 on 4 power play goal when Williams had pulled their goalie in the final minute of the game. The Mules' early lead propelled them to their third NESCAC win of the season.
The Mules will return to the Jack Kelley Rink against the Ephs again on Saturday.
