Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Men's Ice Hockey team found the back of the net nine times en route to a 9-1 win over Southern New Hampshire University Tuesday evening in an out of conference matchup. The last time the Mules scored 9 goals was in a 9-1 victory over Middlebury during the 2017-18 season. The Mules improve to 5-7-2 overall (2-5-2 in NESCAC) while the Penmen fall to 5-10-2 overall.

Michael McEachern set the tone early, scoring two and a half minutes into play. This was soon followed by a goal from junior
Will Molson, and to end the period a goal by sophomore
Tyler Crist. The Mules did not slow down in the second period despite a Penmen goal in the 17th minute, with senior
Ryan Doolin and sophomore
James Tepper finding the back of the net for a commanding 5-1 lead going into the third. In the final period, Tepper and Junior
Nick Stapleton ran the show, each scoring two goals, with Stapleton scoring both within a three minute window. Tepper finished the night with a hat trick and helped guide the Mules to victory.
In only the second ever matchup between the Mules and Penmen, Colby has taken a 2-0 series lead.
Colby is back in action Friday January 19th, when they travel to Middlebury.
