Williamstown, Mass. - The Colby College Women's Basketball team faced off against Williams Friday night for their second conference game of the season. Despite their strong second half, the Mules fell to their opposition 80-73 bringing their overall record to 9-5 on the season and 1-1 in conference play. The Ephs improve to 8-8 and 1-2 in the NESCAC.
Williams took control in the first half outscoring the Mules 47-28 but Colby kept on fighting starting with
Lydia Mordarski's nine second quarter points going 4-4 from the floor. In the third with just under three minutes to go the Mules were able to narrow the Ephs lead to four led by
Amelia Hanscom and Mordarski combining for 15 points in the quarter. In the fourth, Colby once again found themselves down double digits (11) but were able to go on yet another run placing their deficit at four once again following a
Kate Olenik three pointer in the final two minutes of play. However, the Mules ran out of time and had to start fouling leading to multiple free throws for Williams and the 80-73 final result.
Mordarski led the team netting a season-high 19 points followed by Hanscom with 15 points to go along with four assists, two steals and a block.
Chelsea Ibenegbu scored a dozen with Olenik close behind contributing 11 points and three steals.
