Amherst, Mass. — After a tough battle with #13 Williams on Saturday, Colby traveled to Amherst College on Sunday, which resulted in a 3-0 loss.
To begin the game, MK Marshall made her 6th appearance in the net, making a total of 2 saves throughout the contest. Colby's Jackie Portogallo led the team in shots on goal for the day.
In the first six minutes, Colby's Sophie DiGrande made the first goal attempt narrowly missing the top of the net. Despite Colby's numerous shot attempts, Amherst was the first to score in the 32nd minute. The Mammoths took advantage of their momentum, scoring another goal less than 10 minutes later to cap off the first half with a 2-0 lead.
In the second half, Colby's Corrigan Rayhill had a breakaway that led to a shot on goal within the first few seconds of the half, which was saved by Amherst's goalkeeper. In the 58th minute, Amherst earned their third goal of the game, causing the Mules to fall behind 3-0. Despite Colby's 7 shots on goal, Amherst rendered the Mules scoreless.
Colby will be back at home this week for another NESCAC matchup against Tufts University on Saturday, September 30 at 12:30 p.m.
