Williamstown, Massachusetts - The Colby Field Hockey team fell to #8 Williams College 8-1 Saturday. This loss takes Colby to 2-4 on the season, while the Ephs stay hot to improve to 4-1.

It was intense early in Williamstown as the Ephs came out of the gate hungry. The hosts, one of the best offensive teams in the country, kept the Colby defense busy, taking 31 shots with 20 of those being on goal. The first quarter saw three goals from 11 shots as Williams charged out ahead.  Going into the second quarter, Williams kept Colby pinned. Relentless pressure led to a quick fourth goal from Williams, as Colby had two shots to end the half, heading into the break down 4-0.

Coming out of half, momentum stayed with the Ephs. A fifth goal a minute into the third took Williams' lead to fiv, but two minutes later the Mules got one back as Molly Mitchell assisted Charlotte Epker for her first goal of the season. To close out the third quarter, Colby saw more offense, sending four shots at the Ephs' goal, but in the dying minutes, Williams' persistent offense put another by goalie Harri Baker to make it 6-1.

Williams' eight shots in the final frame led to two more goals, ending the game 8-1.

Colby is back in action tomorrow as they travel to Amherst, Mass. to take on the 11th ranked team in Division lll, the Amherst Mammoths, at noon.
