Volleyball Dominates Bates, Extending NESCAC Win Streak to 3-0

Waterville, MAINE - The Colby College Volleyball team played their third home game this Wednesday in yet another intense NESCAC matchup against the Bates Bobcats. The Mules continued to demonstrate their dominance, showcasing their prowess in both offense, with a hitting percentage of .263 resulting in a total of 46 kills, and defense, tallying 63 digs and six blocks. They emerged victorious in three sets with scores of 25-19, 25-16, and 25-15.

The first set started with a brief lead by the Bobcats, holding a three-point advantage. However, Colby quickly gained momentum, equalized the score, and surged ahead to reach a score of 14-8. Despite Bates' efforts, the Mules maintained their lead and secured the first set, taking a 1-0 lead in the match. In the second set, it was Colby who established an early lead at 6-1, setting the tone for the rest of the set, ultimately winning it with a score of 25-16. Similarly, the final set featured an early lead that the Mules held onto throughout, securing the victory.

Reanna Yadao led the team's defense with a total of 14 digs, closely followed by Alli McKenney, who recorded a total of 13 digs. At the net, Hannah Wyllie made a significant impact, registering an impressive 3.0 total blocks, while Sydney Bopp and Sarah Friedrichs both recorded 2.0 total blocks. On the offensive front, Azariah Love led the team's attack by contributing eight kills on 20 attempts, followed by LJ GrantIssy Pribisich and Hannah Wyllie, with six kills each. First-year player Marjorie Johnson made her debut on the offensive front, recording her first four kills of the season on a total of five attempts. Ensuring the team's offensive flow, Sydney Sick and Allison Rodriguez both contributed significantly with a total of 18 assists each.

Colby Volleyball is scheduled to travel to Providence to take on Johnson & Wales University this upcoming Friday with the hope of extending their winning streak.
