Volleyball Tramples the Camels 3-0

Waterville, MAINE - The Colby College Volleyball team returned to the Margaret M. Crook Center Friday for their first home and NESCAC game of the season against Connecticut College. The Mules displayed dominance, securing their first NESCAC victory with a convincing 3-0 win (25-10, 25-8, 25-20). This win raises Colby's overall record to 3-2 for the season, with a NESCAC record of 1-0, meanwhile, the Camels suffered their first NESCAC defeat, bringing their record to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

The Mules established their dominance early on by winning the first two sets in a clean and efficient game, leaving no room for doubt. In the third set, the visiting team came back strong, fighting tooth and nail but despite their commendable efforts, Colby ultimately grabbed the set win with a final score of 25-20, securing their victory.

As a team, the Mules demonstrated their offensive prowess by achieving a hitting percentage of 0.284, resulting in a total of 38 kills, showcasing their technical finesse and strength. The team's attack was led by sophomore Emma Davis, who notched an impressive nine kills while maintaining a .130 hitting efficiency on 19 attempts. First-year Azariah Love made a valuable contribution with seven kills on 13 attempts, and LJ Grant added six kills at a .313 clip while also making a substantial impact in defense with a total of 14 digs. On the defensive front, Hannah Wyllie played a pivotal role, denying the opposing team from scoring by recording an impressive 4.0 total blocks. Assisting in the team's offensive plays, Allison Rodriguez chipped in with 16 assists, closely followed by Sydney Sick, who contributed 15 assists.

The Colby College Volleyball team will host their second NESCAC game of the season tomorrow taking on Maine rival Bowdoin College for a heated matchup.
