Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Falls Short to the University of Southern Maine

Waterville, Maine — Colby Women's Soccer battles until the last minute to work their way back from a 2-0 lead by USM but end the game with a 2-1 loss.  

Women's soccer kept USM to two goals in their game tonight while the Mule's also led in offensive attempts. Both Colby and USM consistently challenged each other's defense with Colby clocking 17 shots on goal and USM with 7. 

In the first 3 minutes, Madison Genser went for Colby's first shot on goal but was blocked by USM's goalkeeper. After the first half, Colby collected 14 shots but couldn't find an open spot in the net, continuing to put the pressure on. At halftime, the game remained scoreless, but in the 49th minute, USM put their first goal on the board. In the following six minutes, USM scored one more goal to secure a 2-0 lead. Even with the lead, the Mules don't back down and fight to keep it from being a shutout game. In the 77th minute, Pepper Joseph scores her second goal of the season and makes the score 2-1. 

Women's Soccer will be heading to Hartford, Connecticut to play Trinity College on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
