Waterville, Maine - Following the announcement of the CRCA and IRCA All-American Teams, ten Mules have been selected as 2023 Crew Scholar Athletes.
Representing the CRCA for Colby we have
Caroline Bedrosian (English),
Ainsley Bonang (Psychology),
Isabel Grimes (English),
Kirsten Ishii (Mathematical Sciences; Chem-Biochem),
Pardis Koplos (Global Studies),
Maryjane Pennington (Computational Biology) and
Tori Richards (Environmental Policy). To qualify, an athlete must meet both academic and athletic requirements, such as being in at least their 2nd year of eligibility and maintaining an average cum. GPA of 3.50 or higher. Additionally, student-athletes must have rowed in their institution's NCAA or IRA (lightweight) eligible boats for a minimum of 75% of the current spring races or race in an NCAA Boat at their Conference Championship/NCAA Championship.
On the IRCA side we have
Charlie Anderson (Environmental Policy and Government),
McQuillen Martinez (Economics and Environmental Policy), and
Charlie Stevenson (Economics). In order to be named a "scholar athlete", rowers and coxswains must have met the following criteria: Athletes from all IRCA Member Schools are eligible, must be in their second year or more of eligibility, must have competed in their program's top three boats during the current season or raced at the 2022 IRA Championship and must have, at least, a 3.50 cumulative GPA through the fall semester.
