Waterville, Maine - The Colby Softball team competed against the Amherst Mammoths on the penultimate day of the regular season. The Mules fell 0-1 in the first of the series, but returned in the next game runruling the Mammoths 8-0. This win by Colby keeps the Mules at 0.500 in NESCAC competition and brings the Mules to 21-13 overall.
Game 1:
- Colby had four hits, with each hit registered by a different player
- The Mules totaled ten assists, with five assists by Emma Burnham and three by Lauren Ilano
- Colby had a stellar defensive game with no errors
- Abby Orso pitched six scoreless innings, only giving up one run in the 7th
Game 2:
- Chloe Wilcox achieved her 100th career hit
- The Mules totaled 10 hits with six separate players having at least one
- Colby had five extra base hits with a double from both Jackie Hill and Amanda Cabral, two from Wilcox, and a triple from Courtney Schumacher
- Starting pitcher Sam Ahlholm pitched a scoreless six innings with five strikeouts
Tomorrow, May 6th, Colby College Women's Softball will host the Wesleyan University Cardinals in the final two games of the regular season.
