Softball Sweeps Wesleyan, Enter Playoffs as Fourth Seed

Waterville, Maine - The Colby Softball team topped Wesleyan University 2-0 and 7-2 on Sunday to improve to 23-13 on the season.  Colby enters the NESCAC for the second consecutive year to be held Friday-Sunday by Tufts University.  The fourth-seeded Mules will take on the fifth-seeded Bowdoin Polar Bears Saturday morning at 9:30am. 

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS:  
  • A Hannah Masterson single and a Logan Luebbe two-run homerun put the Mules on top for good in the third inning. 
  • Pitchers KC DeSarno and Abby Orso combined to shutout the Cardinals.  The pair scattered five hits while only walking one.  DeSarno earned her third win of the season while Orso notched her fourth save.  
  • Carissa Cassidy and Masterson led the Mules with two hits apiece. 
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS: 
  • Colby erased an early Wesleyan lead when Jackie Hill doubled in the fifth inning scoring Grace Gouin and knotting the score at two.  
  • In the sixth inning, the Mules collected five hits and five runs to put the game out of reach.  Luebbe delivered a bases loaded triple to highlight the frame. 
  • Pitcher Sam Ahlholm collected her career-high 10th win throwing a complete game two-run gem.
