Waterville, Maine - The Colby Baseball team is set to host the 2023 NESCAC Championship weekend here on Mayflower Hill May 12th-14th. The Mules along with Tufts and Bowdoin will represent the East while Middlebury is the lone team coming out of the West.
Colby enters the weekend with a 24-10 overall record (7-5 in conference play) and swept over Hamilton (7-6, 12-8) last weekend in the quarterfinal series.
Ryan Grace is hitting a team-best .336 this season and also leads the team in hits (43) and doubles (12) while driving in 27 runs.
Cole Palmeri has 29 RBI and a team-high seven homers to go with a .975 OPS.
Brady O'Brien paces the Mules with 33 RBI, 32 runs scored, and 22 walks. The Mules rank second in the NESCAC in doubles (83) and are tied for second with 25 round-trippers.
The Colby pitching staff boasts the best ERA in the conference at 3.47.
Jack Pletter leads the way with a 1.22 ERA in 37 innings of work. Pletter has 46 strikeouts this season and is holding teams to a .184 batting average.
Nicholas Thompson has 41 Ks in 49.1 innings and
Julian Erro is one of four NESCAC pitchers with 50 or more strikeouts.
Last year, the Mules finished third in the tournament behind runner ups Hamilton and Championship winners Middlebury.
The four-team, double-elimination tournament gets underway on Friday, May 12 with the two No. 2 seeds Colby (E2) and Middlebury (W2) squaring off at 2:30 p.m. Fans can follow the
