Colby Battles Mammoths On Senior Day

Waterville, MAINE- On the day the Mules celebrated 14 seniors, they put in one of the season's best performances against seventh-ranked Amherst. Colby kept pace with the visiting Mammoths and had a response every time it seemed like they were going to pull away. The Mules trailed at halftime 11-7 but clamped down on defense to hold Amherst to only five second-half goals. The loss drops Colby to 2-7 and the Mammoths to 8-2.

The first half saw the Mules play efficient offense as they converted on seven of their 20 first-half shots. Nick Hassan led the Colby scoring in the first half with two goals. Jack Goller, Bennett Goller, Ryan Darby, Jake Surette, and Brooks Rayment all had first-half goals. Will Rickards continued his steady play in goal posting 11 of his 18 saves in the first half, allowing the Mules to be only down four.

The second half saw Colby make the scrappier plays as the Mules controlled the ground balls and face-off game in the second half. Jack Goller led the scoring in the second half with two goals. Hassan, Max Solmssen, and Henry Popko also had tallies for Colby. Other statistical highlights for the game were seven ground balls from Justin Turley. Jackson Alvord had six, while Rayment and Hassan had four each.

The Mules return to action as they take on Bowdoin at home on April 12th at 7 pm.
