HARTFORD, Conn. - The Mules traveled down to Hartford last night for their second to last game of the season. Colby took on the Bantams, hoping to keep their momentum going from their midweek shutout of Thomas. The Mules took a 5-4 lead into the break; however, a couple of minutes into the third quarter, lighting struck, which sent the game into weather delay for over an hour. Following the delay, the teams came out, and Trinity ended the game on an 11-5 run. The loss drops Colby to 3-10 and the Bantams to 8-6.
The first half saw the Mules find success through familiar faces.
Nick Hassan and
Bennett Goller had two goals each to lead the Colby scoring output while
Alex Reitman contributed the fifth goal of the half.
Justin Turley continued his strong play at the face-off spot as he won 50 percent of the first half face-offs.
The second half saw the Mules grab one goal before the delay, as Hassan scored a little over a minute into the third quarter. Following the delay, the Mules continued to fight as they never were more than a goal down until the end. Hassan and
Bennett Goller each had two more goals in the second half.
Henry Popko and
Jack Goller each had a goal for Colby as well. The four goals by both Hassan and
Bennett Goller were the most either had in a game this season. Other statistical highlights for the Mules included
Jackson Alvord having three ground balls and
Brooks Rayment with two.
Colby will finish their season at Bates on April 26th at 4pm.
