BRISTOL, R.I. - This Sunday, the Mules traveled down for a non-conference matchup on Bayside Field against Roger Williams University and took their sixth win of the season. The Colby Women's Lacrosse team jumped out to a 10-4 lead in the first half, as they cruised to a 14-8 final score.
Colby started off strong in the first quarter with
Annie Eddy's goal off a free position shot just five minutes into the game.
Elizabeth Hennessey then scored two goals in a row, putting the Mules ahead of the Hawks. Eddy piloted Colby offensively with a total of five goals as Hennessey contributed four goals and two caused turnovers. In the second quarter, the Mules offense continued to dominate, adding six more goals to their tally, with two of them coming from
Gianna Bruno and one from first-yearÂ
Ainsley Burke. The second half saw a bit more back-and-forth play between Colby and Roger Williams but the Mules defense was strong with two saves by goalkeeper
Sarah Hearns, which prevented the Hawks from closing the score deficit.
The Colby Women's Lacrosse team will return home on Wednesday, April 5 for a battle against the University of Southern Maine.Â
