Colby Takes to the Road Against Middlebury

Middlebury, Vt. - The Mules went on the road this afternoon to face off against #5 nationally ranked Middlebury. Colby was coming off solid performances against Amherst and Bowdoin and hoping for a third today. However, the Mules found themselves down 11-5 at the half and could not put together a rally to comeback. The loss drops Colby to 2-9 and the Panthers to 11-1.

The Mules found some success against a defense that has been stifling NESCAC opponents all season long. Colby had a balanced scoring effort in the first half, with five players scoring. Nick Hassan, Carson Byrd, Jack Goller, Ben Reynolds, and Bennett Goller were the five that made their way onto the score sheet. Will Rickards posted 10 of his 17 saves in the first half.

The second half saw the Mules succeed more against the Panthers as they found the back of the net seven more times. Hassan, Jack Goller, Bennett Goller, Ryan Darby, Jack Hansen, Henry Popko, and Max Solmssen were the scorers for Colby in the second half. Other highlights for the Mules were Justin Turley going 17-38 on face-offs with eight groundballs. After Turley, Brooks Rayment and Rickards followed with four groundballs a piece.

The Mules return home for their final home game of the season against Thomas College at 7 pm on April 18th.
