Worcester, Mass- This weekend, the Colby Crew team traveled to Worcester Polytechnical Institute open its regular season of racing against WPI, Wesleyan, Hamilton, Connecticut College, UMass (men), Smith and Clark. Despite strong winds and a few late lineup changes due to injury, the team battled hard and set a strong benchmark for the rest of the season. The Men's Varsity 8 was one of the boats forced to deal with a change of lineup, but they responded well against 3 top-10 ranked opponents fighting hard and ultimately beating UMass for 4
th place. The Women's Varsity 8 handled difficult weather in their first race, before rebounding well in the petite final, beating rival Conn College and placing 6
th overall on the day. Featuring a young lineup after being struck by a late illness, the Women's Second Varsity 8 stepped up to the challenge and finished 7
th overall on the day. The Men's Varsity 4 also was challenged by both late lineup changes and difficult weather; nonetheless, they raced hard to a 3
rd place finish.
Elliot Do '25 raced as part of both the Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 due to a late injury in the Varsity 8. He showed impressive strength and mental toughness jumping between both races with little rest.
