Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Mules Battle #5 Salisbury

Arnold, Md. - The Colby Women's Lacrosse team had a quick turnaround after facing #2 Tufts on Friday, and added a flight to their docket.  Traveling to Maryland to face #5 Salisbury University on Sunday, the Mules fell to the Sea Gulls 14-12, falling to 0-2 to begin the 2023 season.  Despite the early-season losses, Colby has played two of the nation's top teams to the wire, establishing the Mules as a national contender.

Salisbury outscored Colby by one goal in each of the first two quarters, entering halftime 8-6 in favor of the Gulls.  The Mules scored three times in the third, closing the gap to one goal before the hosts scored four unanswered tallies into the fourth quarter, jumping ahead 14-9.  Colby tallied three goals down the stretch to move to within two, but Salisbury stiffened their defense over the final two minutes to secure the win.

First-year Paige Saudek led the Colby with five goals.  Gianna Bruno was the team-leader in assists with four, while Annie Eddy (three goals) and Elizabeth Hennessey (one goal, two assists) had three points apiece.

Colby returns to the northeast next weekend to face off against Williams College on Saturday in Williamstown.
