Georgetown, TX - Colby Men's Tennis fell in a 5-4 thriller to 15th ranked Southwestern University on Thursday, March 23rd.

The Mules found themselves down 2 matches to 1 after the doubles. At the top spot, the tandem of senior captain Jan Wenger and sophomore Jake Cohen won 8-5. On court 2, junior Sam Henry and sophomore James Bogdanovic fell 8-4 and on court 3 junior captain Joey Barrett and freshman Aidan Kwong lost 8-6.

Barrett leveled the match at 2-2 with a quick win at 1st singles 6-1, 6-2. After pulling out a lengthy first set, Wenger was ultimately outlasted by his opponent 6-7(5), 6-1, 6-3 to give Southwestern the lead. At line 4, senior Ben Powis fell in 2 tiebreak sets 7-6(4), 7-6(4) to give the Pirates a 4-2 lead. 

Moments later, sophomore Jake Cohen pulled out his match on court 2, edging his opponent 6-2, 5-7, 6-4. Henry was able to tally another point for the Mules at line 5 to level it at 4 matches apiece 6-4, 6-7, 7-5. Kwong was the final match on for the Mules. After an intense second set, he ultimately fell 6-2, 7-5.

Colby concludes their spring break trip against Trinity Texas on Friday, March 24th.
