Women's Basketball Hosts Bates in a Rival Matchup

Waterville, Maine - The Colby Women's Basketball team took on NESCAC rival Bates midday Saturday with the Mules falling 55-68. Colby is now 8-12 overall and 3-5 in the conference. Before the matchup, the Mules honored their two seniors in Sophie Webb and Mackenzie Younker

It was a tight game throughout the first half with the scoring be shared among Colby's lineup. Caroline Smith led the way with nine first half points as the Mules found themselves down only six points. Going into the third the Bobcats controlled the quarter as they kept it around a 10 point lead. Then with six minutes to play in the game Colby started to come alive knocking down their shots and stopping Bates offensively narrowing the Bobcats lead to only four points. However the Mules found themselves in foul trouble leading to multiple Bobcat free throws and the final score of 55-68.

Smith finished the game knotting 13 points and five assist with Lydia Mordarkski netting 12 points followed by both Carter McGloon (12 rebounds, six offensive) and Chelsea Ibenegbu with nine points.
