Waterville, Maine - The Colby Women's Basketball team hosted Tufts Friday night in a conference matchup resulting in a close loss for the Mules as it came down to the final few possessions. This gives Colby a 8-11 overall record and a 3-4 NESCAC record as they sit in 6th place.
Playing against the number two seed in the conference, the Mules dug in defensively and played great team basketball to stick with the Jumbo's through the first three frames as they battled neck and neck. Colby even got up to a six point lead in the first to kick things off behind
Lydia Mordarski's seven point quarter. In the fourth, Tufts shooting came alive and hit their end of the game free throw's resulting in the close 53-59 Colby loss.
Mordarski lead the team finishing with 21 points (season-high) and seven rebounds as
Caroline Smith contributed 11 points while
Carter McGloon and
Chelsea Ibenegbu both dropped nine points.
The Mules will be right back in the Margaret M. Crook Center tomorrow for their senior game against NESCAC and in-state rival Bates.
