Middletown, CT- Colby College Women's Ice Hockey competed against the Wesleyan University Cardinals, winning 4-0. The Mules are now 13-6-0 overall and 7-6-0 in NESCAC conference competition. This win by Colby puts them above 0.500 in NESCAC conference competition for the first time since January 6th.
Only three minutes into the first period,
Meg Rittenhouse picked up the puck on the Cardinals' blue line and scored an unassisted goal to take the Mules up 3-0 for her fifteenth goal this season. The Cardinals had a power play opportunity, but the Mules were able to kill the penalty to improve their 74% power play record. In the tenth minute, McKinely Karpa put up the quick goal to beat the goalkeeper to their spot and put Colby up two. SophomoreÂ
Georgia Pettygrove ended off the scoring of the first period with her first goal of the season. In the second period, Colby continued their display of offensive prowess with a backhand shot by
Courtney Schumacher to put Colby up 4-0. Ten saves by Colby in the third period secured the win for the Mules.
Tomorrow Colby College Women's Ice Hockey will rematch at the Wesleyan University Cardinals at 3:00pm in the last away game of the regular season.
