Rutland, Vt. - The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team defeated the Vermont State University Castleton Spartans 6-1 in the championship of the Castleton Invitational. The Mules improve to 6-1-0 on the season while Castleton drops to 5-6-1.
While the first period saw chances for both teams, only the Spartans were able to score, leading 1-0 going into the intermission. This quickly changed, when the Mules came out refreshed and scored five goals in the second period alone. Goal scorers included

Alex Thomas,
Audrey Shirer,
Breanna Studley, and
Megan Martodam, asserting the Mules' dominance heading into the final period of the game. Colby maintained their control of the game with
Meg Rittenhouse adding her seventh goal of the season to make it a decisive 6-1 victory.
Paige Bolyard once again boasted a strong performance in net for the Mules, helping to secure the championship win.
The Mules will be back in action after the holiday break to take on Plymouth State University on January 2.
