Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Dominates Stevens 74-51

Hoboken, N.J. - The Colby College Women's Basketball traveled for their furthest away contest of the season to face Stevens midday on Saturday. Despite a close first quarter, the Mules took over for the remainder of the game netting a 74-51 victory. The win puts the Mules at 7-3 on the season as the Ducks drop to 5-4.

After a tight first quarter score of 13-15 and Colby down two points, the Mules started to pull away from Stevens following a strong second quarter leading to commanding 38-27 halftime advantage. Following the break, Colby continued to bring the same intensity increasing their already double digit lead into a 18 point edge (58-40) heading into the final frame. With the help of bench points (24 to the Ducks five) and being highly efficient on the fast break resulting in 14 points over Stevens zero, the Mules stayed on top for the 74-51 final score.

First-year Kate Olenik continues to put up big numbers on the 2023-24 campaign as she totaled 24 points for a new career high followed by six rebounds and three steals. Lydia Mordarski played a big role in the win contributing nine points, nine rebounds (four offensive) and three steals. Caroline Smith also netted nine points followed closely by Amelia Hanscom with eight points and ten rebounds as Adaobi Nebuwa totaled eight points as well.

Colby will have plenty of time to rest and prepare with the start of winter break before heading to Babson's Judy Pearson '84 Memorial Tournament taking place December 29th-30th.
