Hadley, Mass. - The New England Small College Athletic Conference has announced its awards for football this season. Four Mules were selected following their high quality play throughout the 2023 campaign.
Julian Young was named All-NESCAC First Team Defense for the second time after being named First Team Defense in 2022. The junior led the conference in total tackles this year with 94 for an 11.8 per game average despite playing a game less then the rest of the top tacklers in the NESCAC. On top of that, Young managed to grab an interception, two fumble recoveries, a blocked kick and force a fumble over his eight games played.
Also on the defensive side of the ball, senior
Tyler Robbins and junior
Joshua East were named to the All-NESCAC Second Team. Robbins was responsible for 34 tackles on the year with 5.5 tackles for a loss, picking up four sacks (22 yards), two force fumbles and a pass breakup. East totaled 36 tackles with one tackle for a loss, five pass breakups, and an interception.
On special teams,
Brendan Sawyer was named to the All-NESCAC Second Team as a returner. The junior led the conference with 20.2 average return yards netting 242 total on 12 attempts. Sawyer's biggest return was for 33 yards.
