Football Earns Coaching Staff of the Year, Nine Named All-NESCAC

Waterville, Maine - After concluding the season with a 6-3 record, good for third place in the NESCAC and the programs best finish since going 7-1 in 2005, the Colby Football team has earned the conference's Coaching Staff of the Year award. 

"We are honored to be recognized by our peers for the impact we had on our young men this Fall," stated the Dick McGee Head Coach for Colby Football Jack Cosgrove. "We look forward to our work with them as we prepare for the Fall of 2026!"

It is the second time in history that the Colby Football coaching staff has earned this award (first in 2005). The Mules led the NESCAC in fewest points allowed (14.7) and ranked fourth in total defense this season. 

On top of this recognition nine Mules were named to the All-NESCAC list, the most in program history. Starting with First Team Defense awards Jack Mullen, Sebastien Romain, and Ameer White all made the cut. Mullen totaled 42 tackles on the season leading the team with seven tackles for loss and four sacks. The defensive lineman also had nine QB hurries on the year. Romain, earning his second All-Conference award (2024 Second Team) contributed 45 total tackles with 3.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, three pass brake ups and five QB hurries. White had an impressive four interceptions on the season on top of 26 total tackles, five pass breakups and a forced fumble. 

Eli Soehren was also named to an All-Conference first team earning a spot on the special teams list. The junior punter had 62 punts this year good for 2,622 yards (42.29 average). Soehren's longest was a 68-yarder as he totaled 13 50+ punts over the course of the season. Gamble Reed was named to the All-NECAC second team list for special teams being the long snapper for Soehren. 

On the offensive side of the ball, Jack Nye the 2024 Conference Rookie of the Year, earned second team status for his success as a wide receiver. The sophomore led the team in catches (31) and total yards (369) by over double in both categories. His longest catch was a 55-yarder while averaging 41 yards per game. Nye's lone touchdown on the year came against Hamilton. 

Back to the Mules defense, Declan McNamara, Drew Ramos, and Joshua Iyonsi earned second team honors. McNamara led the team in tackles this season with 65 total including six tackles for loss and a half sack. The linebacker also had nine pass breakups, four QB hurries and a crucial pick-six in the final game of the season versus Bowdoin. Ramos grabbed 48 tackles this year with three being for a loss while leading the team with an impressive 11 pass breakups. The defensive back also had a forced fumble against Wesleyan and an interception in the season opener beating Trinity. Lastly, Iyonsi had 46 total tackles including 5.5 tackles for a loss and three sacks to go along with two QB hurries, a forced fumble and a pass breakup.
