Castine, Maine - The Colby College Women's Basketball team pushes their win streak to five after taking down Maine Maritime Academy 71-57. The team improves to 6-1 on the season while the Mariners drop to an even 3-3 record.
The Mules took control in the Tuesday night contest leading the whole way besides a one point Maine Maritime lead early in the first quarter that lasted only 17 seconds. Late in the opening quarter,
Ana Von Rumohr hit a triple putting Colby up by double digits (12) as the Mules held on to a double digit lead the rest of the game eventually resulting in the 14 point victory. A big impact on the Colby win was their ability to force turnovers resulting in 21 points for the Mules as well as knocking down 38 points in the paint over the Mariners 12.
Kate Olenik led the offensive push gathering 19 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Amelia Hanscom also made a contributing to the Colby offense totaling nine points and seven rebounds while
Adaobi Nebuwa and
Lydia Mordarski each contributed eight points apiece.
The Mules will stay on the road and prepare to face Maine-State Rival's Bowdoin Saturday December 2nd at 3:00pm.
