Brunswick, Maine - The Colby Women's Basketball team headed on the road Saturday in hopes to push their winning streak to six against the Bowdoin Polar Bears. Unfortunately, the Mules could not keep the streak alive falling to Bowdoin 86-63. Colby now has a 6-2 overall record as the Polar Bears improve to 5-1.
The Mules kept the game tight throughout the first quarter only allowing Bowdoin to get out to a three point lead heading into the second. Before halftime, the Polar Bears started to pull away outscoring Colby 20-10 in the quarter for a 40-27 lead. The Mules responded scoring 20 points of their own in the third but Bowdoin's offense could not be stopped as they added 22 points. The final frame played out the same leading to the 86-63 Polar Bear win.
Despite the loss, first-year
Amelia Hanscom dropped 20 points resulting in a new career high followed by
Chelsea Ibenegbu and
Kate Olenik netting 11 points a piece. Colby will look to seek revenge when they host the Polar Bears January 20th which will count towards the NESCAC standings.
The Mules will be back in action at home Wednesday hosting their other conference rivals Bowdoin at 7:00pm.
