Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team hosted the Huskies of University of Southern Maine in their season opener on Tuesday night. The Mules topped the Huskies 3-0 heading into the Thanksgiving break.

After almost an entire period of scoreless play Meg Rittenhouse finished on a rebound off of a shot by Cailyn Murphy from the point to score the first goal of the season for the Mules. In the second period Colby came out strong tallying 21 shots on goal. On a power play for the Mules, Meg Rittenhouse scored her second goal of the game assisted by Jo Tattersall and Sophie Melsness to give Colby a 2-0 lead. Less than five minutes later Anna Staton added another power play goal from the point assisted by Beth Sinson and Breanna Studley. The Huskies brought the pressure in the third period but sophomore goalie Grace Caligiuri maintained the shutout, tallying 24 saves for her first career shutout.

The Mules return to action after the Thanksgiving break against Morrisville State College.
