Clinton, N.Y. - The Colby Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving team headed to Hamilton Sunday for a meet going up against the hosting Continentals and the Trinity Banthams. Although the Women came up short to Hamilton 163-136, they were able to top Trinity 185-114. The Men took victories over both teams with a 171-116 scoreline over the Continentals and a dominating 240-57 win over the Banthams. In the overall combined effort of both teams, the Mules came up on top with a total score of 307-279 just beating Hamilton and a 425-171 score to outpace Trinity.
Looking at the final results, Colby had a large amount of victories altogether. To kick things off both 200 Medley Relay teams won their events with a women's lineup consisting of
Sarah Michael,
Kellen Mottl,
Lexi Asch and
Lily Moy (1:49.33) and a men's lineup of
Brandon Xiong,
Brian Brogan,
Ethan Chang and
Allen Zhu (1:34.94). The Mules also placed first in both 200 freestyles as
Alex Mayo got it done on the women's side (2:00.57) while
Skylar Yoham did for the men (1:48.53).
Nathaniel Chon kept it going for the men winning the 500 and 1000 freestyle (4:56.91, 10:16.28) while Xiong snatched first in the 50 backstroke with a time of 23.85.
Going back to the Colby women, Mottl took first place in the 50 and 100 breaststroke (30.66, 1:08.22) as Moy won the 50 freestyle (25.09). To keep things rolling, Michael grabbed the 100 backstroke win with a time of 59.74 while
Spencer Cohen took the victory for the men in the same event snatching a time of 53.00.
Max LaRoche kept fueling the Mules fire by winning the 100 breaststroke (1:00.69) on top of Yoham winning the 400 yard IM (4:17.43).
Onto the diving side of competition,
Avery Rappaport outmatched her opponents scoring 284.4 points to take the one meter diving crown as
Tate Weltzin did the same for the men scoring 208.10 points. In the three meter, Weltzin again took care of business scoring 220.20 for the win as
Eleanor McGrath got a first place of her own with 239.00 points on the women's side.
The Colby Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving team will now have time to prepare before hosting the Maine Collegiate Invite December 1st and 2nd in their opening home meet of the season.
