Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Field Hockey team came up against another ranked NESCAC opponent today as Hamilton visited the Bill Alfond Field. The Mules lost 4-2 as their late comeback only split the difference, dropping their record to 3-8 while Hamilton went to 7-4.Â
The Mules were the victims of a quick start from Hamilton as they put two goals past them in the first quarter. Shots on target from
Charlotte Epker,
Lillian Kistner, and
Sydney Gallop were their sole chances in the half as their defense were primarily under pressure. The second quarter brought another goal for Hamilton as the game went into the half 3-0, bringing a slow first half to a close for the Mules.
The teams came out evenly matched in the third quarter as each posted five shots against one another.
Maddie Campbell came close in the 40th minute but it was saved to keep the Mules out. Goalie
Emily Loeb had 4 saves in the quarter to keep the game in reach heading into the last quarter. Hamilton again scored quick to almost take the game out of reach but Colby stayed in it. Loeb produced another five saves in the quarter and on the offensive end, Kistner got the Mules on the score sheet and her fourth of the season. Another late goal in the last minute by
Casey Winslow, also her fourth of the season, saw the Mules end on a positive note but it was unfortunately a bit too late to salvage something.
Colby travels down to New London, Connecticut this Saturday to take on Connecticut College in another tough NESCAC affair.
