Mules Lose Close Game to Conn. College

New London, Connecticut - The Colby College Field Hockey team came up short in one of their remaining three NESCAC games, falling to Connecticut College 2-0. This loss takes the Mules to 3-9 overall and 0-8 in NESCAC conference play.

The first goal came in the opening quarter as Conn. College scored against the run of play as a saved shot by Molly Mitchell a few minutes earlier saw the Mules with momentum. Both teams proved equals in the second as the sole shot on target was saved by Emily Loeb and on the other end, Molly Mitchell was denied yet again. Colby was down 1-0 going into half.

The Camels doubled the Mules' deficit immediately out of half and continued to dominate as Loeb had a moment of brilliance, denying three separate shots in five seconds to keep the score 2-0. Colby had the momentum in the fourth but yet again couldn't convert. Catherine McNulty and Casey Winslow were each denied between the sticks as the Mules were shutout.

Colby has a quick turnaround as they travel up to Beverly, Massachusetts tomorrow to take on Endicott College.
