Women's Soccer Faces Defeat Against Connecticut College

New London, Conn. — Despite a successful week, the Mules were unable to come back from an early Camels' lead. After a road trip down south, Colby fell 4-0 to Connecticut College.

Although the Mules remained scoreless, numerous Colby players put shots on the net, tallying a total of 10 shots to lead in this statistic. Some of Colby's shot leaders include Madison Genser, Sophie DiGrande, and Abigail Jarvi.

In the first half, Connecticut College secured an early lead with a goal in the 3rd minute to begin some momentum for their offense. Abigail Jarvi and Pepper Joseph attempted to answer back in the minutes following but shot just wide of the net. The Camels ended the first 45 minutes with a 1-0 lead.

With only a 1-0 lead, the Camels came out of the gate with an aggressive offense trying to widen the deficit. In the first four minutes of the half, the Camels scored their second goal. Colby's Madison Genser and Sophie DiGrande came back at the Camel's with a couple of shots on goal, but Genser's was saved by the Camel's goalkeeper and DiGrande shot just high of the net. In the 77th minute, the Camels were awarded a penalty kick, resulting in their third goal of the game. Finally, in the 85th minute, Connecticut College found another opening to earn their fourth goal of the game and to finish with a 4-0 loss for the Mules.

This week, the Mules will return home to face one of their Maine state rivals, Bowdoin College, on Tuesday, October 17 at 7:00 p.m.
