Colby Struggles In The Second Half To Lose 79-59

Waterville, MAINE- The Mules took to the court in their second NESCAC game in as many days. They hoped to avenge their overtime loss from the night before and collect their first NESCAC win of 2023. Colby kept up with the visiting Cardinals as they trailed by five at the half. However, they could not muster the same energy from the night before to rally. The Mules struggled in the second half allowing Wesleyan to pull away and collect a 79-59 victory. The loss drops Colby to 12-3 and takes the Cardinals 8-6.

The Mules started the game off strong as they hit 44 percent of their shots and had their fewest turnovers of the season. Senior Will King continues to put together a solid senior season, as he has posted career highs with 12.5 points per game and 6.2 assists. King led Colby in the first half, scoring 13 points, with Max Poulton and Jack Lawson contributing six each.

The Mules struggled to shoot the ball as they hit 35 percent from the field and only 13 percent from deep. Colby also struggled on the boards and holding onto the ball as Wesleyan outscored the Mules in second-chance points and points off turnovers. King led Colby again in scoring with ten points giving him a season-high of 23 points.

The Mules will be on the road next as they face Williams at 7 pm on January 13th.
