Williamstown, Massachusetts- Colby took to the road tonight as they faced off against number three Williams. In arguably the stiffest competition of the season, the Mules hung around despite being down two starters. Colby kept pace with the Ephs and only trailed 33-29 at the half. The Mules continued fighting but could not keep up, dropping the game 79-70. The loss drops the Mules to 12-4 and takes Williams to 14-1.
Colby was able to stick around with the Ephs as they dominated the boards and converted five offensive rebounds into seven second-chance points.
Will King led the Mules in scoring in the first half with eight points, while
Jack Lawson contributed seven more.
The second half saw Colby lead Williams for long stretches but could not hold on. They continued to dominate the offensive glass as they had eight more offensive rebounds converted into nine second-chance points.
Max Poulton scored 22 of his career-high 27 points in the second half to lead the charge. Lawson added in another six. Sophomore
Ben Kaczmarek stepped up for the Mules with eight points in 21 minutes off the bench.
The Mules return to action tomorrow at 3 pm against Middlebury.
