Women's Ice Hockey Drops Close Match on the Road

Williamstown, Mass.- The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey Team played the second game of a weekend series against the Williams College Ephs. The Mules fell to the Ephs 3-1 and are now 9-5-0 overall and 3-5-0 in NESCAC conference competition.

In the first period, Colby's dominant offense paid off with a long-distance goal by Junior Alex Thomas, her first goal of the season, off an assist by Tate Senden and Jo Tattersall. However, with only 1:58 in the first period, the Ephs scored off the power play, taking the game to 1-1 going into the second period. The first period was mostly even with the Mules leading with 25 shots, while the Ephs led with 12 saves. In the second period, both teams had 26 shots, however, Williams led with 19 shots on goal. In the last minute of the second period, Williams pulled ahead on another power play bringing the game to 2-1 before the third period. In the third period, Colby once again put on the offensive pressure attempting to get back into the lead. The Mules won 7 more faceoffs and had 30 more shots than the Ephs. Despite this Williams scored the final goal of the game halfway through the third period to finish the match.

Next Friday, January 27th, Colby College Women's Ice Hockey will return home to play against the Trinity College Bantams.
