Castine, MAINE- Colby opened 2023, looking to continue where they left off in 2022 as they faced off against the Mariners. The Mules controlled the game from the get-go, leading 43-28 at the half. Colby then held on for the 79-71 victory. The victory takes the Mules to 12-1 and drops the Mariners to 4-5.
The first half saw Colby control the game offensively and defensively. The Mules used strong defense and rebounding to build a 15-point halftime lead. Colby converted four turnovers into nine points and dominated in second-chance points. Seniors

Jonah Obi paced the Mules as they used their experience against a younger Mariner team.
The second half saw the game turn around as the Mariners chip away at the lead, closing the gap to only eight points. However, the Mariners were able to come back as they dominated the paint and received more help from the bench. Colby starts 2023 on the right foot as they look to continue their hot start with conference play beginning this Friday. King paced the Mules with 23 points and was followed with 13 from Tyson and 11 from Obi.
The Mules will return home to face Trinity on January 6th at 7 pm.
