New London, Conn. - The Colby Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving team traveled to New London, Conn. Monday to take on the Conn. College Camels. Both the Men (124 to 164) and the Women (132 to 168) fell to the hosts but the Mules came away with some key highlights and victories.
Brandon Xiong got things rolling for the men with a first place finish in the 100 backstroke (52.68) followed by Spencer Cohen in 2nd (52.74). The women also placed first in the 100 backstroke as
Ellie Mackle finished at a time of 1:07.98. Cohen later grabbed his own first place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:53.42. Neil Mortimer raced for a first place finish in the 100 butterfly at a time of 50.08 as Ben Spragg (1:58.24) and Alexander MacLennan (1:58.32) took first and second in the 200 individual medley.
On the women's side,
Ann Tolan brought home the win in the 50 freestyle (24.15) and 100 freestyle (53.78).
Avery Rappaport kept on fueling her diving performances with a win in the one meter at a score of 274.20 followed by her teammates
Eleanor McGrath (257.48) and
Monet Meyer (239.33) for a podium sweep. Women's diving did not stop there as they also swept the podium in the three meter with Rappaport again finishing first (278.10 - Colby record) with Meyer right behind in second (269.33) and McGrath in third (241.28).
As for relay's, both sides placed first in the 200 freestyle relay with the women (
Gabriella Landau,
Lily Moy,
Ellie Bailey, Tolan) placing a time of 1:38.09 and the men (Niels Wu, Shaun Kronenwetter, Mortimer, Allen Zhu) placing a time of 1:24.95.
The Aqua Mules will head back to Mayflower Hill on Saturday the 21st for a matchup against Wesleyan.
