Colby Baseball Makes Statement with Dominant Win Over Thomas College

Waterville, MAINE - Colby College Baseball hosted Thomas College on April fourth at 5:00 PM. Before the game, The Mules dropped two of three to the Tufts Jumbos over the weekend. Thus, they looked to bounce back in a big way against Thomas. They succeeded, winning 22-7 in a statement home win.

Colby scored very early and very often in this one. Putting up six runs in the first, one in the second, four in the third, two in the fourth, five in the fifth, one in the sixth, and three in the seventh. The Mules had 20 hits for 22 runs in an absolute offensive explosion.  Short stop, Charlie Furlong, led the squad in hits with three for five RBIs. Cole Palmeri had one hit, but he made it count with a 3 RBI homerun in the bottom of the first. Brady O'Brien also had three RBIs, but instead with two hits, one of which was a solo homerun. Marcus Forrester, Cabot Maher, Drew Miller, Clint Flippo, and Jack Dorsey all had two hits to cap off an outstanding offensive performance for Colby Baseball.

Six foot Junior, Howell Eglin, got the win on the mound for the Mules. He pitched one inning and allowed one hit. Charlie Jodka pitched three innings, allowing nine hits and six runs. The rest of the time on the mound was filled out by Zack Lurie, Michael Ciaccio, Mark Sunoo, and Moises Celaya. Together, these pitchers allowed a combined one run on two hits. Allowing seven runs typically isn't ideal for a pitching staff, but in a game like this it performed perfectly well. The bats were enough to insure a down day for the bullpen, and they have been all season.

The Mules will look to keep the explosive offensive firing when they travel to Middlebury, Vermont to take on the 8-7 Middlebury College Panthers.
