Box Score 2 Middlebury, VT - Mules Baseball traveled to Vermont yesterday, Sunday, April 11th. They played two games, one starting at 11:00 AM and the other at 1:30 PM. There was also a game scheduled for Saturday, but it was canceled due to rain. Prior to this matchup, Colby was 12-3 and coming off a dominant win over Thomas College. However, by the end of the weekend the Mules were 12-5, dropping both games to the Panthers. The first game ended 5-16 and the second 5-15, both resulting in losses for Colby.
Julian Erro was charged with the loss in game one, pitching three and a tenth innings and allowing seven hits and seven runs. The first of those runs was unearned, coming int he bottom of the first. After that, the floodgates were opened for Middlebury. They then scored another run in the second, two in the third, four in the fourth, and eight in the sixth. Jack Doyle,

Mark Sunoo, and
Michael Ciaccio pitched the remainder of the game, together giving up another nine runs (eight earned) in one two third innings. Play stopped in the bottom of the seventh, after the Mules found themselves down 11.Â
Despite the poor defensive effort, Colby was able to score semi-consistently, with one run in the first and four in the sixth to attempt a rally. The offense managed to scrape together seven hits.
Brady O'Brien and
Cabot Maher tied for the team lead in hits with two, neither player was able to drive in a run with these hits.
Charlie Furlong led the team in that category, with two RBIs on one hit. Coach
Jesse Woods most certainly wasn't happy with the performance of his squad in this gam, and unfortunately not much changed in the second matchup.Â
The Mules did host a lead in this one, scoring one in the first. However, they didn't hold it for long, conceding seven runs in the second, six in the third, one in the fourth, and one in the sixth. Colby scored two in the third and fourth as response, falling short of any true attempt at a rally.Â
Jack Bohrer was charged with this loss, pitching two innings and allowing seven runs on five hits. One of the seven runs was unearned.

Ryan Grecco,
Jack Pletter, and Matthew Scribilio pitched the remainder of the game and allowed eight runs. In the this case the remainder of the game was four innings. The Mules scored five runs in this one, as they did in the first. They did so on five hits, two from
Marcus Forrester, two from
Cole Palmeri, and one from
Brady O'Brien. O'Brien and Palmeri each had two RBIs and Forrester had one.Â
Colby will look to bounce back from these two tough losses when they take on University of Maine, Farmington tomorrow, Tuesday April 12th at 4:00 PM.Â
