Softball Goes Toe-to-Toe with Trinity

Hartford, Conn. - The Colby Softball team traveled down to Trinity College for a three-game series against the Bantams. The Mules and Bantams enter the series tied with 6-3 records in second place in the NESCAC East.  Trinity edged Colby in the opener for a 5-2 victory.

Jackie Hill helped the Mules get on the scoreboard in the first inning by driving in her 11th RBI of the year on single that scored Chloe Wilcox. The hosts responded with two runs in the bottom of the opening frame, taking a one-run lead before adding three more runs in the bottom of the third.  The Mules would plate their second run in the fifth inning when Ashley Ketchum scored on an Amanda Cabral sacrifice fly.

Abby Orso pitched a complete game for Colby, striking out five batters along the way.  She was backed by a stellar defense that went error-free in the field. Wilcox led the Mules with three hits, bringing her season total to 46 and tying her for the NESCAC lead.  Colby out-hit Trinity 10-8 on the day.

Colby will play their final two games against the Bantams Saturday with games at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM.
