Women's Lacrosse with Another Out-of-Conference Win

Box Score Beverly, Mass. - The Mules traveled on a Sunday to Massachusetts for an out-of-conference match-up against Endicott College.  Coming after an entire game on Saturday, the Mules pulled out another win, this time scoring 21 goals to the Gulls' seven.

podgorniColby scored a total of 15 goals in the first half and held Endicott to just four.  While remaining relatively even in draw controls and ground balls, Colby found ways to capitalize on 12 Endicott turnovers and 27 fouls.  These fouls allowed Colby the chance at 14 free positions in which they scored on five of them.  Goalkeeper Emily Podgorni (pictured left) totaled 10 saves for the Mules on Sunday to hold the Gulls to under 10 goals.  Of the nine games the Mules have played this season, only two teams have been able to score more than 10 goals against the aggressive and composed defense.

On attack, Ally Franz had another outstanding day with five more goals to put her weekend total at 10 goals for her team.  The Mules had ten contributors on attack, many with three goals.  Junior Gianna Bruno had a total of nine assists and three goals, making her a top contributor on the team, a role she has filled since freshman year.  By the end of the game, the Mules had outshot the Gulls 37-20 and racked up 21 goals.

The Mules will return to play on April 9th and 10th for two more NESCAC matchups.  Saturday will be against Amherst at 11:00am and Sunday will be a makeup game against Williams at 12:00pm due to an early-spring snowstorm.
