Waterville, MAINE - Colby College hosted the University of Southern Maine Wednesday, April 13th at 4:00 PM. They were coming off the largest win of their season, 25-3 at the University of Maine Farmington. Unfortunately, the Mules couldn't replicate the performance, losing 4-14 in five innings.
Southern Maine scored seven runs in the top of the fifth, putting them up ten. Once Colby failed to score more than two runs to keep them in the game, it was over. The Mules managed to score two runs in the second and, as stated, two in the last.
Nicholas Thompson was charged with the loss, pitching one inning and allowing two runs on three hits.
Elijah Cohen,
John Doyle,
Ryan Grecco,
Matthew Scibilio, and
Mark Sunoo closed out the rest of the time on the mound for Colby, together allowing twelve runs.
Next, The Mules get Bates College. On Friday, April 15th, Colby will travel to Lewiston, Maine. They will then play Bates on Saturday in a doubleheader, to complete a three game conference series.
