Box Score Orange, CA - The Colby College Womens Tennis Team fell to Chapman University by a score of 3-6 on Monday, March 21st. The Mules started strongly, leading 2-1 after doubles ended with wins by Carly Levitz and Lindsey Hernandez at the 1st position and Caroline Kittle and Emilia Callery at the 3rd position. 

In the singles, Levitz scored a huge win over Chapman's in-form top player with a straight sets victory. Through the rest of the lineup, it was a less sunny story, with Chapman taking 5 points to clinch the match. Katharine Dougherty fought gamely against her opponent at 6th singles, ultimately falling in a nailbiting 12-10 final set tiebreak. 

Although falling in today's match, the loss is the first for the surging Mules, who are coming into California with ranked wins over Brandeis and Wellesley. "For our first match in hotter conditions, I was so proud of the team for grinding and putting their best effort and game forward," said Caleigh McClain, who played at the 2nd doubles position and 5th singles position. "We had great energy today and everyone brought positive attitudes. We look forward to bouncing back tomorrow."
