Game Recap: Baseball |

Mules Baseball Remains Undefeated in Two Game Weekend

Lake Myrtle, FL - The Colby Baseball team traveled to Lake Myrtle, Florida for spring break. Before the trip the team was 3-0 and they certainly looked to remain undefeated while on the trip. So far, they have done so. Yesterday, March 19th, they defeated Endicot College, 8-7. Today, March 20th, they defeated University of Wisconsin-EAU Claire, 9-5.

Cabot Maher got the win on the mound against Endicot, however he only pitched one inning. The rest of the game was pitched by a combination of arms. Julian Erro pitched three innings, Elijah Cohen and Jack Pletter each pitched two, and Matthew Scibilio pitched one as well. Maher and Cohen allowed three runs each, and Pletter allowed the other. The seven runs were on five hits, as three were unearned. In terms of offense, the Mules were absolutely rolling. The team scored four runs in the second, one in the third, two in the eighth, and one in the bottom of the ninth.  The run in the 9th acted as a walk off after Endicott had a three run surge to tie the game in the top of the ninth. Colby had nine hits as a team. Brady O'Brien had yet another fantastic game, collecting three hits and an RBI in four at bats. Beyond pitching for an inning, Cabot Maher also had two hits and two RBIs in five at bats.

Nicholas Thompson got the win against U Wisconsin, pitching four innings and allowing only one earned run. Adam Hoechstetter pitched three innings and Mark Sunoo pitched the other two. Thompson allowed one run and Hoechstetter allowed four, all of them earned. At the plate, The Mules were once again rolling, scoring even more than the game previous. Colby scored two runs in both the third and fourth, one in the fifth, three in the sixth, and one in the eighth. Marcus Forrester had a great game, connecting for four hits in six at bats, scoring three runs and batting in another. To the surprise of no one, O'Brien had another great game. He had two hits, two RBIs, two runs of his own, and he was walked twice.

The Mules continue their spring trip tomorrow, March 21st, against Johns Hopkins University. They'll look to improve to 6-0, and then they'll have to prepare for another four games during the trip. Colby baseball has a loaded week coming up, during that time they'll do everything they can to hold on to the momentum they've had to start the season.
