Waterville, Maine- The Men's Hockey team faced Amherst College in a NESCAC matchup this Sunday afternoon. Despite the Mules outshooting the Mammoths 32-17, the Mules would fall to a score of 1-0.

In the first period, the Mules maintained better possession and shots on net, but could not find the back of the net. The Mules would have a power play opportunity thirteen minutes into the period but struggled to break through the Mammoths penalty kill. The Mules would take fourteen shots in the first, ten more than the four shots the Mammoths would get on sophomore goaltender
Andy Beran.

The second period showed more even play among both teams, with shots on goal ending in favor of Colby, 10-9. Colby once again had another power play opportunity but could not get the puck by the goaltender for Amherst. The Mammoths would break the scoreless tie at 16:49 of the second, taking a 1-0 lead over the Mules going into the final period.

In the third period, the Mules continued to outshoot the Mammoths, but could not score. The Mules were able to kill both penalties against them today but were unable to convert on their four power play opportunities. The game would end with the Mammoths taking the 1-0 win.

The Mules will play on Tuesday, February 8, at 5:00 PM in another NESCAC matchup against the Middlebury College Panthers at Colby College
