Waterville, Maine - Colby welcomed 7th-ranked Trinity College to campus to play in the quarterfinal hockey game. Despite a slow start, Colby came out on top 3-1.
In the first period, neither team was able to score despite multiple opportunities. Colby had seven shots on goal, compared to Trinity's six. During regular season, Colby won against Trinity 7-0 and 2-1(OT) in the last weekend of January. In the second period, Colby had 16 shots on goal, but were unable to score. They dominated the Bantams in time of possession and shots taken. Trinity was only able to shoot four times, one of which resulted in a goal. At the end of the second period, the score of 1-0 for the Bantams did not reflect the energy put forth by the Mules.
Colby continued to outshoot Trinity into the third period, but Colby wasn't able to break the seal until 13 minutes in when Tate Senden scored unassisted while on a penalty kill. As it is the quarterfinal game, the crowd is going wild knowing that Colby will do what Colby does best, win. At minute 19, McKinley Karpa steals the puck from Trinity on a faceoff. Karpa takes on the Trinity goalie 1v1 and makes the score 2-1. With only a minute left Trinity pulled their keeper for a chance to tie the game. Lexi Cafiero scored an empty net goal with an assist from Meg Rittenhouse.
